Swimmer's ear (also referred to as actue otitis externa or AOE) is a common and painful ear infection. People often develop swimmer's ear within a few days after swimming. But it can also occur from the use of cotton-tipped swabs, excessive moisture from showering, earplugs or headphones as well as inflammation from allergies, infections or skin conditions.

The Splash Swimmer's Ear study is testing the safety and effectiveness of investigational antibiotic drops for swimmer's ear.

The study lasts two weeks. There are four scheduled office visits during the 2-week study period. Eligible participants will receive (at no cost):
Treatment Options During and Following Study
The Splash Swimmer's Ear study is testing the safety and effectiveness of investigational antibiotic drops for swimmer's ear. However, if the drops don't work, study participants will be offered an approved antibiotic at no cost.
Protecting Study Participants
Your privacy is our priority. Researchers and study administrators must follow strict rules to protect the safety of study participants. Participation is voluntary and a participant may withdraw, or a parent/guardian may decide to withdraw their child from the study at any time, for any reason.
